Spider Naevus
The spider naevus is an arterial formation fed by an
ascending artery; the formation begins to manifest itself histologically in the
subcutaneous tissue. The injection of a small amount of solution is normally
enough to cause the spider naevus to disappear. In the event of recurrence, the
injection can be repeated or bipolar coagulation can be performed by means of
the Timed® apparatus. (Capurro 1984)
Recurrence of a spider naevus on
the forehead. If the spider naevus is large, a small amount of 6%
solution of sodium salicylate in a buffered hydroglycerin vehicle has to
be injected into it. After the injection, the operator must compress the
vascular formation for a few minutes. |

Spider naevus |
This recurrent spider naevus was injected with a
larger quantity of solution than necessary, which led to necrosis of the
artery. Although the spider naevus was completely eliminated and a very
good long-term result achieved, this untoward effect must be avoided. |

Timedsurgery™
|
The fine capillaries that radiate from the central vessel are
coagulated by Timedsurgery™
with micro- coagulations, working from the periphery toward the centre.
Programme data: coagulation with microelectrodes, 7 Watts, 5 hundredths
of a second, EM 10 Green electromaniple. Local anaesthesia. The
ascending artery is coagulated with is coagulated with a timed® bipolar
emission. Programme data: coagulation with microelectrodes, 7 Watts, 35
hundredths of a second, 2 EM 10 Green electromaniples (partially-sleeved).

|

The operator proceeds from the periphery toward the
central vessel, which is not coagulated and therefore
remains visible, even if the area becomes oedematous.
|

The artery, which originates in the subcutaneous tssue,
may be coagulated at this depth without producing
visible residual scars. A series of bipolar coagulations
across the ascending artery completes its
electrocoaptation.
